Streamlining and Speeding-Up Access to The IoT
Developers and device manufacturers can now order Verizon SIM cards along with the carrier-certified Skywire® modems they order from Digi-Key – and users can also activate their modems automatically online.
Plymouth MN, August 10, 2016 – NimbeLink®, an award-winning developer of IoT and M2M solutions, today announced that developers and device manufacturers can now order Verizon SIM cards along with the carrier-certified Skywire® modems they order from Digi-Key.
“Savvy developers, device manufacturers and makers know the importance of speed, quality and cost when it comes to creating and deploying solutions for the highly competitive IoT market,” says Scott Schwalbe, Founder and CEO of NimbeLink. “NimbeLink’s end-device-certified Skywire™ modems, development kits, adaptors, and developer services all help streamline product development and enables our customers to get products to market as quickly as possible.”
The Verizon SIM cards – part number NL-SIM-com – can now be ordered along with NimbeLink Skywire modems from Digi-Key, and modems can be activated online at go.NimbeLink.com, significantly speeding up the development and deployment of connected devices.
Schwalbe continues, “Until now, modem users have had to obtain SIM cards from Verizon in a separate step that significantly delays modem activation. Through our partnerships with Verizon and Digi-Key, this critical and time-consuming step has been removed.”
“At Digi-Key we know that any delay in bringing a product to market costs money,” says David Stein, VP Global Semiconductors at Digi-Key. “NimbeLink’s development kits, tools and engineering services slash months off the design process, and the company’s end-device-certification eliminates costly, time-consuming FCC certification. And we are able to pass those savings on to our customers. It’s a strong competitive advantage for us.”
Now that NimbeLink has eliminated the additional steps of obtaining SIM cards from Verizon and manually activating each modem, the time from concept to completion is much shorter. Whether a customer needs one Skywire modem or 1000, Digi-Key can ship all the modems and SIM cards in a single order.
All embedded Skywire modems share the Skywire standard interface, allowing easy upgrade or new product rollout to multiple geographic markets without forcing developers to reengineer their boards. NimbeLink also offers easy-to-deploy external modems and routers to add affordable cellular connectivity to existing products. The Skywire E2C Link router converts a device’s Ethernet output for cellular transmission. The Skywire S2C Link converts serial output for cellular transmission.
